Contemporary Turkish Cuisine
With one foot in Europe and the other in Asia, Turkish cuisine is a melting pot of east and west which is going through an exciting culinary renaissance both in Istanbul and in the number of modern ‘Ottoman’ restaurants opening in major cities across Europe.
In this class, we’ll smell and taste some of the spices and ingredients that make Turkish cooking so unique, and prepare some exciting dishes that you’ll want to make at home for your own Ottoman feast!
Some of the dishes we’ll learn include:
Carrot and pistachio fritters with chili yoghurt sauce
Cheese and spiced apricot phyllo ‘cigars’
Marinated sirloin kebabs with burnt tomato and chili sauce
Firik (smoked green wheat) pilaf
Yoghurt-tahini pudding with sour cherries and grape molasses
We’ll finish the evening by grinding and brewing our own Turkish coffees.
Please check your schedule carefully before booking as there are no refunds or cancellations. In the unlikely event that we cancel a class, you will be given either a full refund or the option to re-book onto another course of a similar price. If you are unable to attend a class you may send someone in your place.
